Psychodynamic Counselling

My work is mainly psychodynamic in its approach. The psychodynamic approach involves the building up of a good strong rapport that allows for a safe place for honest speaking on both sides where we feel safe to discuss difficulties in a frank useful way that allows for growth and new life. It draws on all aspects of our conversation, conscious and unconscious, to inform us of where difficulties may exist. It is based on the quality of our relationship to give insights and links to other aspects of your life and therefore allows issues to come to the surface in the therapy room so that they can be addressed directly and effectively.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy CBT

I also work with cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for anger management and, sometimes, depression. This approach looks at the thoughts and feelings which lead to difficulties. It explores the different options, at certain key points, so that new thoughts can be used to control feelings enough to change behaviours and give you more confidence in your ability to manage yourself in stressful situations.
